Business Meeting

Jim Akers presiding

President Jim Akers reminded the club that International Speech and Table Topics Contests are scheduled for March 29, the week after next.

Toastmaster David Rafanowicz made a motion, duly seconded and carried by unanimous vote, that in recognition of his active military duty in this time of conflict the membership of Toastmaster Don Lemcool be extended for the next semi-annual period without payment of dues.

Club Treasurer Roy Kenski advised that semi-annual club dues are due by March 22, our next meeting, to allow time to forward to Toastmaster International.

Toastmaster Steve Lazar announced that the Eugene Butler Speechcraft’s 7th session will meet March 25 – there will be no session March 18 due to a school holiday – and that volunteers are needed for that meeting.

Guest Comments

Sandra Salem – What a committed group; very impressed and a little intimidated because everyone seems so accomplished. I'd like to be a part of it.

Joke Meister

Steve Lazar (A St. Patrick’s Day Tale)

Patrick O'Rieley drowned in a 10,000 gallon vat of beer at his place of employment and his fellow workers went to his home to break the news to the widow O’Rieley. They recounted the story of how O’Rieley had fallen into the vat, began swimming about the best he could, but drowned after the effects of the beer had taken hold.

“Oh my! Patrick’s never been much of a swimmer,” exclaimed the widow, “I guess he really didn’t stand much of a chance.”

“Well,” explained one of the coworkers, “He mighta stood a chance those two times he got outta the vat to relieve himself now!”
