Miscellaneous

Guest comment from Nina Harley – Works in computer technology and learned of our club from the Internet. Enjoyed the meeting.

Toastmaster Graeme Matthews thanked Chris Spears for help in providing equipment for his presentation.

Joke Meister – Richard Welty (in his role as Financial Planner)

Looking back at investment returns, the $1,000 you invested in Nortel stock is now worth approximately $49.  The $1,000 you anxiously put into Enron is valued at $16.50 and the $1,000 WorldCom investment weighs in at just $5.

Now, if you had invested all that money in Budweiser – the beer, not the stock – and saved all the empty aluminum cans, you would have about $214 in scrap metal.

So, the financial advice for today’s market: drink heavily and recycle!

The meeting ended three minutes ahead of schedule – an unheard of phenomena still under investigation – as time allotted for comments by the Area Governor lapsed due to his absence.

Another great meeting and a good time was had by all!
