Miscellaneous

Joke MeisterDavid Rafanowicz (Now Hear This)

As we get older, we begin to lose some of our physical attributes. Just recently I mentioned to my doctor that I thouht my wife was losing her hearing because she never answered when I asked her a question. Concerned, the doctor suggested I conduct an informal hearing test. He advised that I should ask a quesiton from 15 feet away. If I received no answer, I was to move in progeessively five feet at a time and ask again.

When I arrived home, I noticed my wife was cooking dinner, so I stood 15 feet away and asked, “Honey, what’s for dinner?” No answer. I moved in five feet and asked again. No answer. I moved in another five feet and tried one more time to no avail. Finally, I moved in the final five feet and tapped her on the shoulder.

“Honey, what’s for dinner?” I asked. She looked me straight in the eye and responded, “FOR THE FOURTH TIME, BEEF STEW!”

Announcements

Toastmaster Rafanowicz reviewed new Speaker ntroduction cards, designed to provide the Toastmaster with speech objectives and other pertinent information to deliver a comprehensive introduction. Information is captured from the Schedule file, the Membership Roster, a database of speech ojectives (based on the manual and speech number), and input provided by the Speaker via a web site entry form. The information, which is presented in a clear, legible format, subsequently feeds Member’s News and Notes and a Speech Log. Every member scheduled to deliver a prepared speech is encouraged to use the web site to write an intruduction. An example of the introduction cards is available <HERE>. The Spreker Intro screen is available as a link from the Member’s Page or <HERE>

Toastmaster Sandra Rodrigues initiated a brief discussion on the Fall Conference and whether other Toast of Jax members plan to attend.

SPEAKER SLOT AVAILABLE – VP Education & Training advised after the meeting that a Speaker slot is available October 26. Anyone interested in reserving the slot should e-mail Danny at danny@toastofjax.org ASAP.
