Business Meeting (George Oehl presiding) The Area 22 International Speech and Table Topics Contests will be held March 22 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Augustine. David Rafanowicz and Jim Akers will represent our club in the contests. All member are encouraged to attend. See the Calendar page on the web site for details. New schedule formats, to be generated automatically as a by-product of web site updating, were reviewed. Members were asked to assure that their personal information on the roster was correct as any error will be propagated to the schedules from the roster. Next Saturday, March 2, at 10:00 a.m. an exploratory meeting will be held at the Julington Creek Plantation Library to lay the groundwork for a Youth Leadership Group sponsored by the club. All members were encouraged to participate. Vice President Education & Training Felix Unger requested member input for meeting schedules. If you have particular objectives in mind please let Felix know. He wants your input so that the schedule reflects every member’s interests. Regular Club Meeting Toastmaster – Ulrich Leinhase Word of the Day – Banner (something every TM President loves?) Noun: a piece of cloth attached by one edge to a staff and used by a leader (as a monarch or feudal lord) as his standard b : FLAG c : an ensign displaying a distinctive or symbolic device or legend; especially : one presented as an award of honor or distinction Ribbon to Milo Holt for best use (who had a “banner” day) Table Topics – Topics Master Danny Pritchard

Attendance – 24 members and 2 guests Miscellaneous Six (6) new members were formally inducted into the club today. A special Toastmaster’s welcome goes out to: Ron Johnson Theresa Bates Kevin Farr Charlie Derrick Patrick Leonard Steve Lazar The club presented departing Ramada Inn employee Debra Pardee a Certificate of Appreciation for her years of breakfast service to the club. In fine Toastmasters tradition, the club also passed the hat and presented Pardee with a cash gift. Area Governor Holly J. Walker, CTM, visited the club today. She discussed the upcoming Area 22 contests and announced that the Northeast Division Contests are now planned for Friday evening, April 26, at the Ramada Inn where our club meets. At the Division level, winners from each of five Areas, representing 27 clubs in Northeast Florida, will square off for the opportunity to represent our Division at District contests in Tampa. Held in May, the District level contests include the best of the best from among nine divisions throughout Florida and the Bahamas.
